Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe it is 2010. I was thinking this morning what I was doing ten years ago. I was 14 and had braces and long blonde hair. I know crazy right. I was a freshman in high school and I'm sure I thought my life was so horrible. I was swimming, dancing, playing the flute. I remember who my crush was at that time. I was best friends with my sisters, although I'm sure Holly felt differently at that time ;). I never thought in ten years that I would be married for almost five years and have two kiddies. I never never never thought I would be living out of state let alone Texas!
This isn't quite 10 years ago, more like 9.5. This was the start of my sophomore year in high school.
I also thought what I was doing five years ago. Nick and I were dating, and probably talking about getting married. The boy took forever. We spent New Years Eve in my basement with my mom, Jake and Brittany (our next door neighbors). We were boring. I had just finished up a semester of school, and was working for a pediatrician. I was still best friends with my sisters, and I think they were with me as well. We did everything together. My parents had just gotten divorced, so we were adjusting to life without dad in the house.
This is New Years Eve 5 years ago.
I can't believe all that has happened in the last ten years. I still feel like I should be that 14 year old girl instead of a 24 mom of two, but I wouldn't trade my life for anything. Here are some of my resolutions for the year.
Be more patient with Sydney and do fun uplifting things with her. I also want to take her to do a fun big activity once a month.
Study the scriptures more. I want my understanding of the gospel to increase. Old Testament this year in Sunday School is going to be a challenge, but I'm making a goal to read each lesson the week before so I'm prepared.
Create and stick to a budget. We'll be doing that as a family so that we know what our finances are doing at all times.
Start working on emergency preparedness, and family history. I need to get on the ball big time for this one.
Scrapbook, craft, and read more.
There are a million more that I could think of, but those are some of the bigger ones that take more priority in my life. I am so excited to start a new year. It sort of makes me feel like a new fresh clean slate to begin again. I hope all of you have a wonderful New Year and make the most of it. I know I'm going to.
