Welcome to Texas

Well I officially got my welcome to Texas. I killed my first cockroach!!! It was absolutely disgusting. It was about an inch and a half long and ugly. I grabbed the can of bug spray that we had from our house in American Fork, stood about five feet away, and sprayed my heart out. It died and I swept it up. I am so glad that I didn't step on it. I called our apartment management and told them to send maintenance to spray for bugs. They will be here Monday, so in the meantime, I will be walking around with shoes on, and watching my every step. I will keep you posted on the bug front out here.

Easter

Well Easter came quickly and left even more quickly. We were here in Houston, away from family, so Nick and I decided to have a family dinner of our own. We invited some of the single guys from Nick's work, and the Fabrizio's over for Easter dinner. It turned out really nicely and wouldn't have happened if we didn't have so much help from Carli and Donny. It turned out to be a pretty good Easter. On Saturday our apartment complex did an easter egg hunt for the kids and the adults. Yeah you can only imagine what the adults looked like. The kids were super cute, but the adults were just well... There are no words. It was pretty funny. One lady was running and actually fell down. It was so funny. Well that is about it. The weather was beautiful and everything turned out really nicely. Well hope everyone has a great week. We love and miss you all.

Our apartment

Okay so with the push from Kylee that I needed, I am posting some pictures of our apartment so you all can see where we are living. We love it. However, it is extremely white. We have the option to paint, but when we move out we have to paint it back, so we have decided not to paint, so imagine some amazing colors on the walls. No, we really do like it and hope that you all enjoy the pictures. Just so everyone knows, because I am so proud, I made the headboard in our master bedroom. It is the first time I've done something like that, and I think it turned out really well for an experiment. Well enjoy the pictures. So after many attempts at adding a slide show it didn't work, so I'll see if I can figure it out. If anyone knows how to do it please let me know.

Settling in

Well this week has been another busy one. I worked every day again, and did a lot during the day. I think we are finally settling in and getting to know the place. I actually went somewhere without mapquesting it and found my way home too. Being here that is a pretty big accomplishment. I went to my first dance competition as an instructor at Stacey's, and the girls I teach did so well. We have been cleaning the two routines that I'm in charge of like crazy and it paid off. They looked really good and I think they realized that their hard work produced some exciting results. I love teaching. It is such a rewarding thing for me. I enjoy helping these girls have the desire to practice and watch them see how their hard work pays off in competitions. Ballet is a different story. I have some girls that struggle with motivation, but I'm working on making it a little more fun for them. So any of you dancers out there if you have any suggestions I am open to all. Other than that this week has been pretty normal. Sydney is into everything. She climbs on everything, empties everything, and imagine this, never cleans it up. Nick is slowly losing his mind studying maps, but still loves the fact that he has a career. We have to speak in church next week, so we are preparing talks amidst our busy days. I feel bad for our fellow ward members. Sydney won't go to nursery without mommy or daddy so we alternate hours so that we can get something out of church. Well this is a lame post, but that is our lives here in Houston. We love it here. The weather is great. It's wonderful to be settled. Love you all!

I've been tagged

1. What was I doing ten years ago?
Ten years ago I was in eighth grade. Wow that seems young!! I had just gotten braces and was mortifed I'm sure. I was dancing and swimming so that was pretty much my life. Life was probably a lot better than I thought it was. You all know junior high. It was definitely the peak years of my ugly phase haha.

2. Five things to do today.
1. Work out
2. Fold laundry
3. Pick up house
4. Play with Sydney
5. Go teach dance

3. What snacks do I enjoy?
I love candy! Gummy candy is my favorite, but I haven't had any lately. Lately I've been having a lot of ice cream. I really need to stop that.

4. What would I do if I were suddenly a billionaire?
Buy a house, get a new wardrobe. Pay for my kids to go to college. Donate to charity. Raise my family and probably invest a lot so that we could be semi normal.

5. Three bad habits.
I don't have any!!! Um I don't know. I have a problem with getting bugged by Nick. I know impossible to get bugged by your spouse, but it's been a little worse lately because we are rying to get readjusted to each other. I don't get my laundry done in a day. It usually takes me 3-4 days. Really sad I know. I love reality tv too Christine. I know shocking. I love Project Runway, Millionaire Matchmaker, and of course The Bachelor, and So you think You Can Dance.

6. Five jobs I've had.
1. Dance Teacher
2. Pediatrician Secretary
3. Legal Secretary
4. Dance teacher again
5. Servant of the house to Sydney

7. Five things people don't know about me.
1. I love to bake treats, but I need more good recipes
2. I love to read novels and can't wait for the fourth Stephanie Meyer book to come out.
3. I love to sing, but am awful at it. I wish I could take voice lessons
4. I'm extremely shy, but am slowly coming out of my shell
5. I'm extremely nervous everyday that I have to go to work, but I love my job.

Now I don't know who I am going to tag, so Jodie, Allison, Sarah, and Maria.

Sydney's beautiful makeover

So referring to the picture above, I was getting ready yesterday and the only way that ornery Sydney would sit and not whine was if I let her play with my makeup. This was the finished product. She almost got the eyeliner in the right place. She was so silly afterward when we were taking pictures. In one of the pictures I asked her if she could look at mommy so she turned to me closed her eyes, folded her arms and acted like she was praying. Well if she pretends sometimes maybe eventually she will actually pray and fold her arms when prayers are being said instead of laughing everytime somebody goes to pray. Well she is definitely silly. Things this week went really well. We thought that I would just be working Wednesday and Thursday, but I worked everyday this week, except for Saturday. It was a lot of fun and I am really enjoying it so far. Needless to say I was extremely sore because I haven't danced or stretched like that in a while. All of my girls are super sweet and for the most part want to work hard. The owner of the studio, Stacey, has told me that I've gotten a lot of positive response and I already have three girls that might be interested in doing private lessons with me. The money makes this job too good to be true. Nick just took his second pass or be fired test and passed with flying colors. He isn't getting cocky or anything because he still has to work his backside off to keep doing well. This isn't a slacker job. But then Nick isn't a slacker. We love our apartment and the community. Everyone is so nice it seems. Nick was in the grocery store the other day and somebody walked by him and said, "how ya doing today?" That never happens in Utah. All the people that I work with are so nice and sweet. And people actually have babies here. It's going to be fun to have playdates. Well enough of this chapter of our novel. Have a good week. We love you all
