Sawyer Dean Staples is here. I came into the hospital at 5:30 this morning. We were placed in a room, filled out a ton of paperwork, got some blood work done, and got started on my pitocin drip at 6:30. I was dilated to a 3. I started having pretty regular contractions, but couldn't really feel them. At 8:20 Dr. Breazeale came in and checked me to see if she could break my water. I was dilated to a 3 and only 50% effaced, so she broke my water. I had been thinking I would do it naturally again, but decided why not get an epidural. So my new love Dr. Treadwell came in at 9:05 and administered the epidural. He did an amazing job, and I was in heaven instantly. I napped on and off for the next 2 hours. Leslie my nurse came and checked me again and said I was to a 5. I kind of started to get discouraged because Sydney came so quickly and this was taking a lot longer. At noon I felt like I needed to push, but couldn't be sure because I didn't know what to expect with the epidural. At 12:15 my nurse came in to check again and said I was almost to a ten. I changed positions and two minutes after that I really felt like I needed to push. Dr. Breazeale got there and got set up. I pushed through one contraction and Sawyer popped out. He weighed 7lbs. 4oz. was 19 inches long and really healthy. Sydney loves him. She has been here for about 5 hours and has continually given him hugs, kisses, and pats on the head. She says, "baby brother is my favorite." We are so happy that she is doing well with him so far. Enjoy the pictures.
